About Me
Laura Appel BSc, MA, UKCP accred

I hold a first class degree (BSC) in Psychology from Cardiff University and a Masters (MA) in mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute in partnership with Middlesex University. I'm also a fully accredited member of the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists (ACPP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

I began psychotherapy training at the Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BCPC) where I was introduced to the Humanistic approach to therapy, founded on the belief that we all have an inner drive towards well-being, given the right conditions.

I then discovered the highly regarded Karuna Institute, in Dartmoor, which offered a really special training – an in depth master’s level qualification in the embodied mindful approach to therapy that I had come to believe so strongly in. My daily meditation practice is the ground from which I begin all my therapeutic work.

I'm extremely passionate about the connection between mind, body and spirit, as well as the healing power of compassionate present moment awareness within an attuned therapeutic relationship.

I have a particular interest in the impact of traumatic experiences and the wisdom of the mindbody in supporting our journey back to inherent health.

Prior to beginning this training, I worked as a teacher in primary education before leaving to look after my family and support our family business.
