I welcome you to a safe, confidential space.

Recognising you’d like someone to listen and deeply support you is the first step towards change and transformation. We often look after the health of our body, yet forget to invest time in the well-being of our mind and spirit.

I hold first class honours in Psychology (BSc) from Cardiff University, a diploma in humanistic psychotherapeutic counselling and a masters (MA) in mindfulness-based Core Process psychotherapeutic practice (MBCPP) from the Karuna Institute, in partnership with Middlesex University, I am also a fully accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists (ACPP).

“Being listened to by someone who understands, makes it possible for people to listen more accurately to themselves.”

I believe much of our ongoing suffering arises from feeling alone with painful experiences, therefore, I’m a passionate believer in the transformational power of awareness within a trusted relationship.

I offer a warm supportive space where you can be heard without judgement and met with compassion.

It’s a unique space solely for you, to explore and understand what's happening in your mind and body in the present moment. It’s also a place where you'll be valued for who you authentically are, supported to reconnect with your inner resources and find your way back to wellness.

I offer both short term or open-ended Psychotherapy to support those experiencing:

Stress • Relationship difficulties • Panic attacks • Anxiety • Chronic illness • Bereavement • Redundancy • Depression • Addiction • Trauma • Spiritual difficulties • Abuse • Work difficulties

Background
Laura Appel BSc, MA, UKCP accred

Having worked in education and then business for many years, I decided to return to the roots of my psychology degree and begin psychotherapy training at the Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BCPC). I studied the Humanistic approach to therapy, which is founded on the belief that we all have an inner drive towards being well and given the right conditions, such as an empathetic therapeutic relationship, we can all move out of difficulty and thrive.

I then discovered the highly regarded Karuna Institute, in Dartmoor, which offered a really special training – an in depth master’s level qualification in the embodied mindful approach to therapy that I had come to believe so strongly in. I'm extremely passionate about the connection between mind, body and spirit, as well as the healing power of present moment awareness within a trusted therapeutic relationship. I have particular interest in the effects of traumatic experiences, the power of relationship and the wisdom of the body.

My own daily meditation practice is the ground from which I begin all my therapeutic work.
